Globalization and the internet lets people search for merchants and service providers anywhere in the world. Searching for a lawyer often makes people nervous even when they’re looking for an attorney in their local area. We have experience handling our client’s legal problems even when they’re hundreds of miles away.

If Florida is the proper place for Probate, but you’re not a Florida resident, we can handle probate of your loved one’s estate. We will work with you from start to finish whether you need summary or formal administration.

We can also help with tasks other than preparing and filing pleadings. Sometimes you need someone to check on real property to make sure its secure, or to locate important documents and send those to you. Although those services are not covered in the statutory fee for probate, we are willing to do that work at an hourly rate. This can help keep a home from being cited for vegetation overgrowth resulting in municipal liens, or allowing mail to accumulate telling unscrupulous people that the house is unoccupied and possibly missing out on notifying reasonably identifiable creditors (which could prevent a timely closure of the estate).

There are only a few limitations on who can be a personal representative for a Florida decedent (which we cover in more detail here). If you’re the personal representative but you live outside of Florida, it can be more difficult and time consuming to collect all the documents necessary to begin probate. Our office is close to a Vital Statistics location, so we can get copies of death certificates very quickly. If there’s a will, the original must be filed with the court, so it may take additional time for you to send that to us, or to locate a copy in the decedent’s belongings.

These are only a couple of the issues faced by people who live out of state, but who have lost a loved one who requires probate in Florida. Call or email us today so our Florida probate attorneys can help you.

We can email the representation agreement so you can sign it online, and you can make most payments online using our client portal. Contact us today to schedule a free consultation.
